Watershed Mapping Prioritization
In 2011, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Ohio Emergency Management Agency (OEMA) and other partners prioritized Ohio HUC 8 Watersheds. Watersheds are prioritized based on floodplain mapping needs, flooding risks and mitigation opportunities. Neighboring states also prioritized their watersheds as well. In watersheds that are located in two states, one of the states will take the lead for the watershed. On the map below, watersheds are color-coded by high, medium and low priority. There are a few watersheds where neighboring states have the lead and those were either unknown priority or are a lower priority.
