Explore and Discover Ohio’s Fall Foliage Color!

Welcome to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Fall Color Homepage. This site will serve as your guide to Ohio’s fall foliage color season.

This page provides information for travelers who want to map a scenic road trip, adventurers who are refreshed and energized by the cool autumn weather, vacationers who seek places of solace to enjoy the changing seasons, and students who need a resource for leaf collection projects.

ODNR’s Fall Color Forecasters are calling for another spectacular parade of fall foliage viewing opportunities. While parts of the state experienced dryer than normal conditions in late summer, the overall precipitation for Ohio was normal to above normal – a good indicator that our woodland canopy will be bursting with bright yellows, robust reds, and deep oranges! Peak color should occur in early October for the northern third of Ohio; mid-October for central Ohio, and late October for the southern third of the state. Sunny autumn days and cold – but not freezing – nights are the optimal conditions for the most vibrant fall colors.
