Dam and levee safety – protecting the public and maintaining critical infrastructure

  • Inspect more than 1550 private and public dams every five  years
  • Issue reports, including areas of dam deficiency
  • Review and approve construction plans for new dams and levees or repairs to existing structures
  • Issue repair orders and take emergency actions to safeguard life, health and property

New Probable Maximum Precipitation Study Under Review
A new Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) study completed in 2013 is now under review by the ODNR Division of Soil and Water Resources. On May 8, 2013, ODNR met with a review committee from the Ohio Dam Safety Organization to review the study and solicit comments.
