Historic Bedrock Maps of Ohio

The Ohio Geological Survey has researched and mapped the state's geology since 1837 and beginning with second State Geologist John Newberry, the Survey has created maps and cross sections depicting the state's bedrock geology. Scanned copies of these rare, historic maps are now available and make excellent tools for illustrating the history of geologic research in Ohio and how our understanding of the state's geology progressed during the past 175 years.

The maps are available for free in PDF format (see links below), or you may order a printed poster from the Geologic Records Center at (614) 265-6576; e-mail: geo.survey@dnr.state.oh.us. Posters are printed on high-quality, premium paper and will be rolled and shipped in a mailing tube. Prices exclude tax and shipping.
