A small earthquake occurred on May 17, 2010,  at 5:29 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time about 2.2 miles east of Peninsula, Summit County. Although the magntude (2.5) was large enough to be felt, there were no reports submitted to the Ohio Seismic Network nor to local law enforcement agencies. The epicenter is in a relatively rural area near the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Individuals who felt this event are encouraged to submit a report to the U.S. Geological Survey's Did You Feel It Website (http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/tabid/8305/Default.aspx). These reports help to determine the extent of the felt area of a particular earthquake.
