Damselfly Sun Catcher Print this page
damselfly sun catcherMaterials
Thick white paper (card stock)
Colored tissue paper (minimum of 3 colors)
Kid safe scissors
White school glue
Paintbrush
Plastic container (for the glue & water mix)
Suction cup with hook
Wax paper

Directions
Step 1.
Start by pouring 2 ounces of glue into the plastic container and mix with water. Mixture should be 50% glue and 50% water. See example below.

Step 2.
Print out this already drawn damselfly or make your own. Cut out the center of each wing and leave a half inch to one inch all the way around to create a border/frame for the tissue paper. See example below.

Step 3.
Cut sheets of tissue paper into squares of each color. Place the wax paper under the damselfly frame. Lay the squares out inside each wing and make sure they are all overlapping the frame edges. See example below.

Step 4.
Flip the frame over so the black frame is facing down. Take the paintbrush and dip it into the glue mixture, then gently brush over the tissue paper squares. See exmaple below.

Step 5.
Let dry.

Step 6.
Once dry, gently peel the sun catcher from the wax paper.

Step 7.
Take the suction cup with hook and make a hole (using a sharp pencil) at the top back tab. Insert hook. Find a window that catches the sun and hang. See example below.

Step 8.
Optional: To give your sun catcher more color you can take makers or watercolors and fill in the white areas not cut out.
