| Hungry Nymph |
|
Newly hatched damselflies, called nymphs live underwater for months or even years before becoming a flying damselfly. Nymphs are fast swimmers and hungry predators. In this version of the game “tag”, one player is the “hungry nymph” and must “tag” as many of the other players as they can in one minute.
What you need to play:
Pool (with a shallow end)
Four or more players
Stopwatch
Whistle
How to Play:
1. Gather players in the shallow end. Define the boundaries of play so that everyone can stand up. One person is the “hungry nymph” or “It”.
2. At the whistle, the person who is the “hungry nymph” has one minute to tag as many other players as they can. Once tagged, a player is called “prey” and must stand frozen and raise their hand. Before a frozen player can return to action, an unfrozen player must thaw them out by submerging and swimming through his/her legs. A player cannot be tagged and frozen if they are underwater.
3. At the end of the minute, blow the whistle. The “hungry nymph” must count their “prey”, and designate another unfrozen player as the “hungry nymph”. Keep going until everyone has been the “hungry nymph”. The winner is whoever has the most frozen players at the end of their role as the “hungry nymph”. |
