Backyard Birdseed Mosaic Print this page
birdseed mosaicSince not all birds head for the warmer weather in the winter.  A birdseed mosaic is a fun and friendly way to bring the year-round feathered residents of Ohio into your backyard.

Materials:
- Birdseed in different colors, sizes and shapes.
- Cups to hold the birdseed

How to get started:
Find a spot outside either under a tree or where you have plenty of room to be creative. Then take a a couple of cups of birdseed and pour it on the ground. Use your hands and start to create a picture of where ever your imagination takes you. Tip: Use pine cones, leaves, or fallen branches for that extra detail.

For snowy weather:

Try making birdseed snow angels. Work in teams of two: One partner makes the angel while the other stands nearby to help the maker get up without messing up the angel imprint. Make sure to stand in the same footholes as both members of the team take turns pouring cups of birdseed into the angel imprint. For a feathery touch, use fallen pine tree branches for the angel's wings.
