USING FIRE TO MANAGE EASTERN OAK FORESTS
IS TOPIC OF NOVEMBER 15-17 CONFERENCE
COLUMBUS, OH - Scientists and woodland managers will discuss using fire as an effective tool to managing eastern oak forests during a November 15-17 conference at the Fawcett Center in Columbus. The three-day event is sponsored, in part, by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Forestry.
More than 20 speakers from seven states will be on hand for “Fire in Eastern Oak Forests: Delivering Science to Land Managers.” They will discuss fire history; forest change after fire suppression; fuels and fire behavior; fire effects on soils, air quality, plant and animal life; social constraints on fire use; and prescribed fire law and litigation.
The conference is open to land managers, conservationists, public officials and the public. The Fawcett Center is located on The Ohio State University Campus at 2400 Olentangy River Road.
