No Horsepower Limit Changes for Piedmont, Clendening Lakes

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) today announced there would be no changes in horsepower limits or other boating rules on Piedmont Lake and Clendening Lake in Harrison County.

Watercraft with motors greater than 10 horsepower may not be operated on either lake. The lakes are jointly managed by MWCD and ODNR.

Public meetings were held at each lake in May in response to a petition that was previously submitted to the MWCD and ODNR Division of Watercraft to increase the horsepower limits from 10 to 25 horsepower on each lake. The Division of Watercraft holds jurisdiction for establishing boat motor horsepower limits for operation on Ohio waterways.
