Open-File Materials
The term "open-file" is applied to results of investigations as well as maps and other records that are available to the public outside the Division of Geological Survey's formal publication series. Open-file materials include limited-distribution reports, unpublished manuscripts or maps, basic data, field notes, or other data that may or may not (contingent on size and availability) be reproducible but are always available for public inspection at the Survey's offices in Columbus. The nature and quality of the information on open file is variable and the Division of Geological Survey makes no affirmations concerning its completeness and accuracy.
