Washington Hawthorn - Cragaegus phaenopyrum
Cleveland Planted: Unknown
North Amber Dr. (School) Site: 4' Tree Lawn

1971 Comments:
These trees are upright spreading in character and consistent in form and degree of spread. They are located under utility lines. They have been limbed up extensively to prevent interference with vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The trees are located in front of an elementary school and are exposed to adverse conditions due to the large number of people moving through the area. These trees were pruned in 1970.

1997 Comments:
These plants were planted in a tree lawn only 4' wide. There appeared to be eleven plants in the original planting. Plants have remained small with no tree more than 7.5" in caliber and 21' in height. Plants are unattractive and not an asset to the site. Thorns are also a concern.

Fifty-four and one half percent of the overall planting survived (6 of 11 trees).
1997 data on the table are based on four trees.
