Lavalle Hawthorn - Crataegus lavallei
Toledo Planted: 1964
2024 Calulmet Site: 3' Tree Lawn

1971 Comments:
This is a suburban area where the houses are located close to the sidewalk and the trees are planted in a narrow tree lawn. The trees are uniform in character, although they are becoming open which is typical of this age cultivar. It would appear that homeowners park their cars on the street and, since the trees are relatively close to the curb, there is danger of damage by car doors.

1997 Comments:
These plants were planted in a three-foot tree lawn and only one survivor is present in this location. Data presented is for this tree. This is similar to the situation in Columbus. Most locations were better for Lavelle Hawthorns.

Five percent of the overall planting survived (1 of 20 trees).
1997 data on the table are based on one tree.
