1971 Comments:
These plants are upright spreading and well established after only four years in the planting. However, because of the natural spreading habit of growth, they will definitely cause a traffic interference problem in this narrow tree lawn.

1997 Comments:
The remaining trees are highly variable and many of these are stunted. Sidewalk disruption is not a serious problem. Only one of the plants measured was displacing the sidewalk, and it was the largest of the plants at 18" in diameter. This plant has been variable in the Shade Tree Evaluation Plot and in the plantings at the OSU campus as well. The male plants do better since they don't bear fruit or need the energy to mature fruit.
