Trident Maple - Acer buergeranum
Cleveland Area Planted: 1955
15200 Edgecliff Site: 10' Tree Lawn

The habit of the trees is upright spreading; however, there is considerable variation in height, spread and caliper. They are growing well and appear to be suited to this suburban situation.

Two of the original trees were adjacent to homes that were beautifully maintained. These two plants have some sidewalk damage. The trees with good maintenance were 19 to 20" in diameter, white the majority of the trees ranged from 11 - 15" caliper. There was no sidewalk damage to the poorly maintained trees, but some displaced sidewalk was present for the larger trees. Overall, the remaining trees did fairly well. This tree is related to the Sugar Maple, but is considerably smaller.

Fifty-seven percent of the overall planting survived (16 of 28 trees).
1997 data on the table are based on four trees.
