Course Objective and Description:
Ohio Certified Prescribed Fire Manager Training course is designed to meet the training requirements to become certified as a prescribed fire manager by the Ohio Division of Forestry. This course is designed to instruct prospective prescribed fire managers about basic fire ecology, prescribed fire planning, firing methods, smoke management, burn management, contingency planning, fire behavior predictions, and burn plan development.
Target Group: This course designed for individuals that will be working as burn bosses on prescribed fires in Ohio. This course is required for those planning on becoming Certified Prescribed Fire Managers in Ohio.
Prerequisites: Direct experience on a minimum of ten
wildland fires / prescribed burns
Or
Direct experience on a minimum of three wildland fires / prescribed burns and successful completion of the National Wildland Fire Coordinating Group course S-130 Firefighter Training and S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior.
Time: Approximately 30 hours
Date: 10:00 a.m. October 21, 2013 to 3:30 p.m. October 24, 2013
