New and improved Division of Forestry web site a great resource
 COLUMBUS, OH - With Arbor Day around the corner, it’s only natural that trees are on the minds of many Ohioans. To celebrate the April 29 event, many might even be considering planting one or two trees, or maybe even an entire woodlot. In deciding when, where and what to plant, the new and improved Division of Forestry website at ohiodnr.com is a great resource, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
With its colorful new appearance comes an abundance of easy-to-access information, including:
 Video and audio stories are another great new feature being offered throughout the ohiodnr.com web site, including the ODNR Division of Forestry’s website, where additional information about Arbor Day can be found.
The Division of Forestry’s Marietta tree nursery produces more than 2 million Ohio Conservation Seedlings each year for reforestation, wildlife habitat development, erosion control, windbreaks and other conservation projects. Ohioans plant and care for nearly 15 million trees each year, according to the Division of Forestry.
Ohio's forested acreage has increased from 12 percent in the 1940s to more than 30 percent in the 1990s with 7.9 million acres of the state in tree cover. "Urban forests" are probably the fastest increasing forested areas in the state. Ohio leads the nation in the number of certified Tree City USA communities.
