A small earthquake occurred about six miles WNW of Gallipolis, Gallia County, Ohio, at 9:42 a.m. EDT. The earthquake was felt over a several county area, including parts of West Virginia and Kentucky. There were no damage reports, which is consistent with an earthquake of this magnitude. Southern Ohio has had infrequent earthquakes. There was a 3.0-magnitude event on February 16, 1975 near the location of the April 24th earthquake.
