- Ohio Statehouse Fossil Tour – Columbus

Join experts from The Ohio State University and the Survey on a geologic tour of the Ohio Statehouse to learn about building stones of Capitol Square and the structure's fantastic fossil specimens.

- Earth Science Day – Highbanks MetroPark, Lewis Center

- Gorge Geology Hike – Black Hand Gorge State Nature Preserve, Newark

Join the Survey for a hike through the gorge to examine and learn about the geology and natural history of the area.

- 33rd Annual Fall Hike – Lake Hope State Park, McArthur
Saturday, October 20, 10:00 a.m.
Join Ohio State Parks on a 3-mile hike. Survey staff members will be on hand to discuss the geology of the park and answer questions about the area's mining history.

- Little Cities of Black Diamonds Day – Shawnee
Sunday, October 21, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Survey geologists will be available to discuss the Survey's abandoned underground mine map program and answer questions on the geology and coal-mining history of the area.
