Description
Mud salamaders are stout, with short legs and tails. They are usually pink or salmon colored with black spots.

Habitat and Habits
This salamander is often observed under large, flat stones. They prefer muddy areas.

Reproduction and Care of the Young
Breeding takes place in late fall to early winter. The eggs hatch in late winter. The aquatic larvae live in silt or decaying vegetation.
