This insect may not be easy to see, but its chirping is often heard. The most common call sounds like a two-part katy-DID! The three part katy-DIDN'T! is heard less often.

Description
Katydids are green with numerous veins on its wings, causing this insect to closely resemble a leaf. Such an appearence serves as excellent camouflage from predators.

Habitat and Habits
Adults can often be seen perching on low shrubs in woodlands and forests.

Reproduction and Care of the Young
Katydids breed in the fall and lay their eggs on the bark and stems of trees. The eggs overwinter here and hatch in the spring.
