Investigation of deer poacher leads to numerous charges

KENSINGTON, OH – An anonymous tip lead wildlife investigators and local Sheriff’s deputies to a Carroll County deer poacher according to the ODNR Division of Wildlife.

On Nov 10th, 2008, wildlife investigators received reports of a poacher shooting deer from a public roadway. Brian Mayle, 27, of Kensington was arrested shortly there after.

Division of Wildlife officials are charging Mayle with taking deer by illegal means, hunting deer with the aid of a motor vehicle, and hunting without permission. 

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is charging Mayle with using firearms under disability, domestic violence, shooting from a public road, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, two counts of intimidating a witness, and tampering with evidence.

“Teamwork between Division of Wildlife and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of not only a deer poacher, but a dangerous criminal,” says Doug Miller, law enforcement supervisor for Division of Wildlife. “I am very pleased to see Mr. Mayle in jail as a result of this investigation.”

Mayle is currently being held in the Carroll County Sheriff’s jail for taking deer by illegal means. He is awaiting arraignment for the aforementioned charges.
