Quail Forever to hold habitat workshop at Indian Creek Wildlife Area May 17th
FAYETTEVILLE, OH – The Brown-Clermont County Chapter of Quail Forever in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife will sponsor their first annual Habitat Workshop on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
Quail Forever (QF), a non-profit organization dedicated to quail conservation and education, was started in the summer of 2005 by its parent organization, Pheasants Forever (PF). QF is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of quail, pheasant and other upland wildlife through habitat improvement, public awareness, education and advocacy for sound land management policy. The Brown-Clermont chapter is Ohio’s first chapter and although only in its’ second year they have completed numerous habitat improvement projects as well as several youth events. This workshop will assist in educating the public on the status of the bobwhite in Ohio and offer information on creating and protecting vital quail habitat in the community. Wildlife professionals from the Division of Wildlife and the Army Corp of Engineers will give presentations on gardening for butterflies, the bobwhite quail, and prairie plants. In the afternoon participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a woodland or butterfly walk. The workshop will conclude with a planting demonstration.
The workshop will be held in BrownCounty at the Indian Creek Wildlife Area, 4258 Snowhill Road, Fayetteville, OH45118, from 8:30am to 4:00pm.
There is a $5.00 fee for the workshop and participants must pre-register by May 10, 2008. Lunch will be provided.
