SPACES STILL AVAILABLE AT FREE STEELHEAD SEMINAR IN AKRON
Seminar co-sponsored by Division of Wildlife and Ohio Sea Grant

 AKRON, OH – Spaces are still available for anglers wanting to learn more about one of Ohio’s best-kept secrets; Northeast Ohio boasts an excellent steelhead fishery. Attendees will learn about the Division of Wildlife’s stocking program and just what makes these fish tick. Then learn the inside tricks and tips to catching steelhead with spinning and fly fishing gear.

This free seminar will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2007, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the ODNR Wildlife District Three Headquarters, 912 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron, Ohio 44319.

Seating is limited and pre-registration is necessary to guarantee seating; registration at the door will be accepted only if seating is available. Call Dawn McGonigal, Division of Wildlife at (330) 644-2293 to register.

Division of Wildlife Fish Management Supervisor Phil Hillman will share his expertise with the Division’s steelhead program as well as fishing for steelhead with spin fishing gear.

Ohio Sea Grant Fisheries Program Coordinator Kelly Riesen will instruct participants on where, when, and how to catch steelhead in local Ohio Lake Erie tributary streams using fly fishing gear. 

Retired Division of Wildlife Fisheries Biologist Vince LaConte will give up some secrets to keeping warm in the rivers with proper clothing choices.

Division of Wildlife Communication Specialist Jamey Graham will give an overview of web-based steelhead resources and finding information regarding steelhead fishing in Ohio.
