STATE WILDLIFE OFFICER BEGINS DUTY IN MADISON COUNTY

COLUMBUS, OH –State Wildlife Officer Matthew A. Teders, 26, of Ottawa, Ohio, began active duty in Madison County on July 18th, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

"I look forward to familiarizing myself with the area and meeting the sportsmen and women of Madison County,” said Teders. “Growing up in a rural county, I am also excited to assist the agricultural community with questions and concerns.”

Officer Teders is a 2002 graduate of Ottawa-Glandorf High School in Putnam County. In 2006, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in wildlife management from The Ohio State University.  Before becoming a state wildlife officer, Teders worked part time at the Division of Wildlife’s call center and Turn-In-a-Poacher hotline since 2004.  He has been serving as an at-large officer in northwest Ohio since June 2009.

As a state wildlife officer, Teders will be responsible for enforcing wildlife laws on public lands as well as private lands and providing assistance to other law enforcement agencies as needed.  He will also contact many Ohio sportsmen and women in the field, perform fish and wildlife surveys, advise on nuisance wildlife issues, and give presentations on wildlife management, hunter education, trapping, and fishing.
 
He will reside within the county.
