Waterfowl Hunting Opportunities At Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area

AKRON, OH – The Ohio Division of Wildlife will hold a public drawing for controlled waterfowl daily hunting permits on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 for portions of Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area. The drawing will be held at the Valley College Grange, 2411 Shreve Road, Wooster. Valley College Grange is located south of Wooster on State Route 226, 0.1 mile south of State Route 3.

Hunters are encouraged to arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. to register for the drawing which will take place promptly at 6:30 p.m. To register, each hunter must present a 2009 Ohio hunting license and either a 2008 or 2009 Ohio Wetland Stamp or Federal Migratory Bird stamp.

Hunters will be selected to hunt one of 16 specific hunting units for each Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday during the 2009 waterfowl hunting season.

The controlled hunt will not affect the 2009 Youth Waterfowl Season or the early Canada goose or teal seasons for which no special permits are required to hunt at Killbuck. The September 23rd controlled hunt drawing will offer daily permits to hunt waterfowl at Killbuck Marsh only during the first two weeks of the waterfowl season and only on selected portions of Wright, Moore, and Macko marshes. Other portions of Killbuck Marsh will remain open as in past years for public waterfowling throughout the 2009 season.
