YOUTH HUNTERS, YOUTH TRAPPERS INVITED TO LOTTERY DRAWING and Special Youth Programs Sponsored by Sandusky Bay Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, Zink Calls and Erie Metro Parks and the Ohio Division of Wildlife
Erie MetroParks has scheduled a lottery on Saturday, August 15th to give young hunters and trappers a chance to hunt with permission at the East Sandusky Bay MetroPark - Joseph Steinen Wildlife Area located on Cleveland Road, Huron within the East Sandusky Bay MetroPark. During hunting season only those issued a youth hunting permit are permitted to visit this property.
The lottery will take place in the Osborn MetroPark Frost Center Erie Room, 3910 Perkins Ave, Huron. Interested youth hunters or a representative must attend a mandatory informational meeting beginning at 10:00 am. A valid Ohio youth hunting license must be presented to register for the lottery. The drawing will follow the meeting. Permits will be drawn in the following order: 18 upland game (all legal species except white-tailed deer and waterfowl) permits; 7 deer archery permits; 8 trapping permits. No late arrivals will be admitted.
In addition to the youth hunt lottery, the day will feature free educational clinics for youth about waterfowling, archery, trapping, upland hunting and more: Free to the public, lunch will be available; door prizes for the kids, adults are welcome! Doors open at 8:30 am. Any proceeds will benefit youth programs.
9:00- Waterfowl Clinic: sponsored by ZINK CALLS, Pt. Clinton, featuring CJ White of the nationally known and recognized Zink Calls. This will be followed by a meet and greet with the local Wildlife Officer from the Ohio Division of Wildlife,.
10:00- Lottery ~ drawing for youth hunting and youth trapping permits for the Joseph Steinen Wildlife Area in East Sandusky Bay MetroPark
11:30- Lunch
12:00- Upland Game, Archery, Trapping, Duck Calling Mini-clinics
After Lunch: RAFFLE DRAWINGS for prizes for the kids including a ****SPECIAL DRAWING for a guided youth hunt at Sweeney's Marsh, Pt Clinton, one of the area's premier private marshes, donated by Bob Sweeney. The ODNR has agreed to film the special hunt at Sweeney's Marsh for their Wild Ohio show with whomever wins the hunt.
