XENIA, OH – Mulberry Pheasantry of Camden, Ohio in conjunction with the Butler County Chapter of Pheasants Forever is holding a youth pheasant hunt complete with guides and hunting dogs on Saturday November 15, 2008.  The hunt will take place at Mulberry Pheasantry Hunting Preserve, 6099 S.R. 725, Camden, Ohio 45311.

Xenia, OH – A nine-target archery range is now open to the public at the Wildlife District Five Headquarters, 1076 Old Springfield Pike, in Xenia, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

For the third year deer hunters will have access to prime deer hunting land at the Edge of Appalachia Preserve in Adams County. In a five year agreement signed in 2006 The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC), and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife opened approximately 2,263 acres of land to deer hunting by permit only.

Xenia, OH- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife has announced the temporary closure of the 100 yard shooting range at Spring Valley for lead reclamation from August 20- 24, 2008. The 25 and 50 yard ranges will remain open during the reclamation process of the 100 yard range.

XENIA, OHIO – On Saturday March 15, 2008, despite extremely foggy weather conditions, the Ohio Bass Federation’s Ohio Valley Bassmasters, Shelby County Bassmasters, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife (DOW) and Lake Loramie State Park teamed up to complete the final phase of a Spawning Habitat Improvement Partnership (SHIP) project around the lake. This large-scale conservation-partnering project was launched to enhance largemouth bass spawning habitat using artificial nesting boxes and is modeled after a successful SHIP project conducted at Buckeye Lake in 2005.

Young turkey hunters will once again be able to take advantage of a permit only Youth Turkey Hunt at Paint Creek State Park during the 2008 spring turkey season. Hunters 17 years of age and younger, accompanied by a licensed non-hunting adult, are eligible for a drawing to hunt within four specified zones on April 19, 26 and May 3, 10, and 17, 2008.

“Passport to Fishing” is sponsored in part by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation. It is a quick and easy program intended to be used with half-day and whole-day fishing events. Fishing fundamentals are taught including casting, knots and rigging, habitat and handling.
