AKRON, OH – Waterfowl hunting blinds will no longer be provided at Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area with exception to blinds for physically disabled hunters. Hunters are encouraged to bring transportable hunting blinds or to hunt without the use of an artificial blind.

AKRON, OH – New this year, a waterfowl hunt for youths 15 years and younger will take place at the 600-acre refuge in Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area.

AKRON, OH – In 2011, approximately 38 different black bears were confirmed in the Buckeye State according to the ODNR Division of Wildlife. While the population of Ohio’s largest mammal, a state endangered species, may not exactly increase in 2012, sightings of the burly creatures are expected to rise in the summer months.

NEWBURY, OH – Rainbow trout will be stocked at Punderson Lake in Geauga County on Thursday, May 10th.  These are surplus “catchable-sized” fish resulting from the annual, statewide, spring stocking efforts.

Growing Up WILD (for ages 3-7 years) and traditional Project WILD (K-12) guidebooks will both be provided at no charge (Aquatic WILD guidebook will also be included). AKRON, OH - The ODNR Division of Wildlife manages the fisheries of more than 170 inland lakes, 40,000 miles of streams, 2.25 million acres of Lake Erie, and Ohio’s portion of 481 miles of the Ohio River.  In northeast Ohio, more than 40 lakes with 43,000 acres of water, two pools of the Ohio River, and numerous rivers and streams are monitored in part by Wildlife District Three fisheries management staff.

COLUMBUS, OH - Anglers visiting Punderson Lake, Geauga County, and Antrim Park Lake, Franklin County will get their final chance at catching large, “broodstock” brown and rainbow trout later this month. The large trout will be stocked at Punderson Lake on November 22 and at Antrim Lake on November 23.
