COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Wildlife and the Council for Environmental Education (CEE) have awarded Lynn White, education specialist for the Butler Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), with their “Ohio Project WILD Facilitator of the Year Award.” This annual award is given to a volunteer Project WILD facilitator who has contributed significantly to Ohio’s Project WILD program, according to the Division of Wildlife and CEE.

COLUMBUS – Eleven new state wildlife officers for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) were sworn in at a ceremony at the District One Wildlife Office in Columbus today. The 11 state wildlife officers were hired from a pool of more than 650 applicants.

ATHENS, OH – For the second year in a row, more than 100 bobcats have been shown to be living in Ohio’s southeastern counties with the confirmation of 136 sightings by state wildlife officials during 2011, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The reports show an increase from the 106 verified sightings in 2010.

Jamestown, PA- Finding fish in Ohio’s larger reservoirs can be tough. Not only must anglers pin point areas where the fish might be biting, but they also must realize how far they are away from the nearest launch in case of problems. This is especially true on Pymatuning Reservoir (Ashtabula County), where there are 14,000+ acres of fishable water for anglers to enjoy. So where can an angler go to find fish and still be cautious given the conditions?

COLUMBUS, OH- Hunters checked 17,647 wild turkeys during Ohio's four-week statewide spring turkey hunting season that ended May 20, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The preliminary total represents a three percent decrease over last year's harvest number of 18,162.
