Oak Harbor, OH - In order for Magee Marsh Wildlife Area staff to conduct wood duck banding operations, access to the wildlife area road from the Sportsmen’s Migratory Bird Center to the Magee Marsh beach and boardwalk area will be closed during the evening hours August 1 through August 19, 2011.

 The Ohio Wildlife Council has approved the state's early migratory game bird hunting seasons for this fall, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. September 1 kicks off the state’s hunting season with the opening of dove, Canada goose, rail, moorhen and snipe.

BOARDMAN, OH – Both formal and non-formal educators who work with children of all ages are invited to attend a workshop focusing on two supplemental curriculums that help teach wildlife-related concepts. The newer Growing Up WILD (for ages 3-7 years) and traditional Project WILD (K-12) guidebooks will both be provided at no charge. All participants must stay for the duration of the program which is 10am-3pm on Tuesday, August 16th. The workshop will take place at Boardman Park also known as “The Green Oasis” at 375 Boardman-Poland Road.

COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife (DOW) and the Council for Environmental Education (CEE) have awarded Bill Grimes, education specialist for the Defiance Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), with their “Ohio Project WILD Facilitator of the Year Award.” This annual award is given to a volunteer Project WILD facilitator who the DOW and CEE believe has contributed significantly to Ohio’s Project WILD program.
