COLUMBUS, OH – Deer gun hunting opportunities on Transportation Research Center (TRC) managed properties near Marysville, Ohio have been discontinued for the 2010-11 Deer Hunting Season, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.  This includes the Youth Deer Gun, Statewide Deer Gun (including the bonus weekend) and Statewide Muzzleloader deer hunting seasons.

COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation in cooperation with the Division of Wildlife will hold a public drawing on Saturday, September 18, 2010 for a chance for youth hunters to archery hunt for deer within a specially designated area of Deer Creek State Park.  The hunt will occur during the regular Archery Deer Season on Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17, 2010.  All youths age 17 and under are eligible to participate in the archery deer hunt.

HURON, OH – The Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) has announced that one research fellowship in coastal and estuarine sciences will be available beginning in the summer of 2011 for graduate students who are enrolled in full-time masters or doctoral programs at accredited U.S. universities.  The fellowships are funded through the NERR Graduate Research Fellowship Program, supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

COLUMBUS, OH – A South Charleston resident will not be participating in Ohio’s hunting opportunities for the next three years, following his conviction on multiple state wildlife violations.  Larry C. Brown Jr., 45, was found guilty of two wildlife violations and one felony in the Champaign County Common Pleas Court, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

COLUMBUS, OHIO—Two separate photo entries of an Eastern amberwing, submitted by wildlife photographer Sharon Cummings, garnered both the winning and first runner up honors in the 2nd annual Ohio Wildlife Legacy Stamp Photo Contest. The winning photo will appear on the 2011 Legacy Stamp, which goes on sale March 1, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. Cummings, of Graytown, captured her images in Ottawa County.
