LAKE MILTON, OH- Late summer fishing can be tough! Add to this, bad weather, boat problems, and uncooperative fish, any or all of which can cause frustration for anglers. Thanks to the efforts from Ohio Division of Wildlife Fish Management crews, boat anglers who fish Mahoning County’s Lake Milton will find a few more “honey holes” soon.

COLUMBUS, OH - Biologists with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife estimate 64 young peregrine falcons fledged from 19 successful nests across the state this year. In 2008, 65 peregrine falcon chicks fledged from 21 nests. Biologists were able to band 59 of these young falcons from 18 successful nest sites during 2009; limited access at some nest sites prevented all young from being banded.

COLUMBUS, OH – Renovation at the Kincaid State Fish Hatchery will get underway August 25, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. Kincaid Hatchery has the responsibility for raising muskellunge, hybrid striped bass, and rainbow trout that are stocked in public lakes across Ohio.

AKRON, OH – The Ohio Division of Wildlife will hold a public drawing for controlled waterfowl daily hunting permits on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 for portions of Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area. The drawing will be held at the Valley College Grange, 2411 Shreve Road, Wooster. Valley College Grange is located south of Wooster on State Route 226, 0.1 mile south of State Route 3.

COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio hunters will again enjoy a 60-day duck hunting season and a six-duck bag limit this year. The 2009-2010 waterfowl hunting season dates have been approved by the Ohio Wildlife Council and are the most liberal regulations allowed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

AKRON, OH- Dove hunting will be permitted on portions of the Mosquito Creek Wildlife Refuge by permit only. Access to this portion of the property is restricted to permit-only hunting. The refuge is not open to the public otherwise.

FINDLAY, OH – Interested waterfowl hunters are invited to participate in several controlled hunting opportunities at the Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area.  The first is a lottery card drawing for the opening day of the Teal/Early Goose season.  The morning drawing will be for all applicants.  The afternoon drawing will be Youth Only.  Interested applicants need to mail in a 4x6 inch index card with the applicant’s name, address and phone number  to: Wildlife District Two, 952 Lima Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840.  The drawing in which the card is to be entered should be designated at the top (Youth Teal or Adult Teal).  Post cards need to be postmarked by August

More than 290 entries were submitted by state, federal, and Canadian wildlife conservation, parks and natural resource agencies for consideration in 24 different categories.
