ATHENS, OH - American Electric Power (AEP) has placed 6,885 acres of Meigs and Gallia counties into a cooperative management agreement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. This agreement allows for public hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing opportunities on the property.

Hillsboro, OH – The Southwest Ohio Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI) and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife will donate venison to the Highland County Homeless Shelter and Samaritan Outreach Services in Hillsboro at 12:00 noon on November 26, 2008. The Homeless Shelter is located at 145 Homestead Avenue, Hillsboro, OH 45133 and the Samaritan Outreach is located at 537 N. East Street, Hillsboro. The donation to Samaritan Outreach will be at 1:00 pm.

COLUMBUS, OH - Young hunters across Ohio again enjoyed success during the sixth annual Youth Deer-Gun Season, held Saturday and Sunday, November 22-23.
 Hunters age 17 and under killed 9,852deer during the special two-day season, aimed at providing a high-quality hunting experience for younger Ohioans. Last year's youth hunt saw a deer harvest of 10,515.

COSHOCTON, OH – Sentencing for eight individuals and a meat processor from Lorain County who were involved in poaching white-tailed deer in Coshocton and Knox counties is coming to a close after more than nine months of deliberation, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. Sentencing related to this case includes fines totaling $2,425, several hunting privilege revocations, forfeited motor vehicles and equipment, and a combined total of more than four years of jail time to be served.

ANDOVER, OH - An initiative to improve walleye fishing in Pymatuning Lake appears promising based on a recent electrofishing survey conducted by the Ohio Division of Wildlife and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.  Electrofishing is an effective tool in surveying fish populations. Biologists temporarily stun fish with a mild current in efforts to better sample fish populations.
