ATHENS, OH – What started as two weeks of archery in gym class has culminated in a national title. Elementary school students from Meigs Intermediate School travel to Ohio’s State House today where they will be recognized and honored for their status as National Champions by State Representative Jimmy Stewart. Earlier this month, the team of student archers traveled to Kentucky to compete at the National Tournament for the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).

Under state wildlife laws, only commercially caught fish may be sold in Ohio.

The cases of seven Defiance County poachers charged with 56 wildlife violations has drawn to a conclusion. The subjects were sentenced on April 10, 2008 in the Defiance Municipal Court. The Honorable Judge John Rohrs III sentenced the subjects to a combined total of over $17,000 in fines, court costs and restitution. Hunting privileges were also suspended for a combined total of 33 years, according to Defiance City Law Director, David Lands.
