XENIA, OHIO - Bass in Lake Loramie will discover 100 new places to nest on Saturday March 15, 2008 when the Ohio Bass Federation’s Ohio Valley Bass Masters, Shelby County Bassmasters, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife (DOW) and Lake Loramie State Park team up to complete the final phase of a Spawning Habitat Improvement Partnership (SHIP) project around the lake. This large-scale conservation-partnering project was launched to enhance largemouth bass spawning habitat using artificial nesting boxes and is modeled after a successful SHIP project conducted at Buckeye Lake in 2005.

Young turkey hunters will once again be able to take advantage of a permit only Youth Turkey Hunt at Paint Creek State Park during the 2008 spring turkey season. Hunters 17 years of age and younger, accompanied by a licensed non-hunting adult, are eligible for a drawing to hunt within four specified zones on April 19, 26 and May 3, 10, and 17, 2008.

COLUMBUS, OH - Public fishing opportunities will be enhanced this spring when more than 80,000 rainbow trout, each measuring 10 to 13-inches long, are released into 45 Ohio lakes and ponds, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The releases will take place between mid March and mid-May; anglers are reminded that the daily catch limit for inland lakes is five trout.

OAK HARBOR, OH - Ohio's bald eagle nesting season is underway with at least three eagle pairs already incubating eggs, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. An eagle pair in Huron County began sitting on eggs January 28. Other pairs in Ottawa and Ashtabula counties began incubation in recent days. Wildlife biologists anticipate the Huron County eggs will hatch sometime on or around March 5.
