Becoming an Outdoor-Woman participants learning to shoot

The following statements were made at past Ohio Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshops by participants identifying characteristics and new experiences that they felt "might make them an Outdoors Woman."

You might be an Outdoors-Woman if....

  • you bagged your Thanksgiving turkey yourself
  • you can fly fish without whipping your fly off your tippet and then being able to retye your fly without calling the instructor
  • you have to change your outfits more than two times in a weekend
  • if you aren't afraid to eat something you and 15 other women just made and had your fingers in
  • you'd rather be hunting than at home watching T.V.
  • sleeping outdoors in 40 degree weather is fun
  • you're a nature goddess
  • you enjoy meeting other women, learning new things and having fun on the "Wild Side"
  • if you have camo upholstery
  • you can fall out of a canoe and come out of the water with your glasses still on!
  • you bug everyone to take a picture of you holding your first fish, you paddling during your first canoe ride, and the .22 pistol you just learned to shoot
  • if the biggest fish you and your new friend have ever seen just breaks your line and you both fall down screaming on the dock "What the heck was that?!!"
  • most of the items on your Christmas list can be found at Cabela's and your primary fashion colors are camoWomen outside and hunter orange
  • you've ever had your hair "cut" by the campfire
  • you find animal bones and immediately start thinking about what kind of cool jewelry you could make
  • you learn that socks make good pot holders around the campfire
  • you're ok with having bruises on your arms and shoulders from your first shotgun shooting experience
  • you can shoot an azimuth, count paces, and know if you're on a ridge or in a valley and not get lost!
  • if your child or grandchild has a camo bunting
