Latest Lake Erie fishing report

Family fishing on Lake ErieFishing opportunities abound on Lake Erie. The Division of Wildlife's Lake Erie Fishing Guide lists access points (ramps and marinas) for those fishing out of their own boats.  The ODNR Office of Coastal Management has completed a Lake Erie Public Access Guide providing information about visiting Ohio's Great Lake.  Charter boats are another great way to take advantage of Lake Erie fishing opportunities if you don't own a larger boat or are unfamiliar with Lake Erie fishing. The Division of Wildlife does not recommend or promote specific charter guides, but charter boat organizations are provided below. They can get you in touch with an individual licensed charter operator.

Lake Erie Boating Conditions and Weather

Tune to the National Weather Service, or your local radio or TV station for the latest weather and lake conditions. Via the web, weather forecasts from the National Weather Service are available online. Click on the following links for the Offshore marine forecast or the Nearshore marine forecast.

Lake Erie is a powerful force, don't underestimate it! Always leave port with operational safety, navigational, and communications equipment. This means life jackets, flares, lights, compass and marine radio (even a cellular phone) in good working order. Know and obey the marine "rules of the road:" Visit the ODNR-Watercraft for more information. Don't zoom full throttle into a pack of fishing boats; it can spook the fish.

Use the Web to get the latest conditions via computer models!  NOAA provides graphic models of lake and weather conditions. Michigan State University posts latest satellite imagery models of Lake Erie water temperatures on their Web siteLake Erie satellite pictures are available in real-time daily from NOAA.
