Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention Advisory Council

The recycling and litter prevention advisory council consists of 13 members which is created within the Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention.  The speaker of the house of representatives shall appoint one member of the house of representatives to the council, and the president of the senate shall appoint one member of the senate to the council.  The remaining eleven members shall be appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate and shall be persons with knowledge of or experience in recycling or litter prevention programs.  The membership and terms of service on the recycling and litter prevention advisory council are specified in Ohio Revised Code Section 1502.04.

Advisory Council Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the chief of recycling and litter prevention and with the approval of the director of natural resources, establish criteria by which to certify, and certify, agencies of the state, municipal corporations with a population of more than fifty thousand, counties, and solid waste management districts as eligible to receive grants under section 1502.05 of the Ohio Revised Code.
  • In conjunction with the chief and with the approval of the director, establish criteria by which to certify, and certify, political subdivisions for receipt of special grants for activities or projects that are intended to accomplish the purposes of any of the programs established under section 1502.03 of the revised code.
  • Advise the chief in carrying out the chief's duties under this chapter
