The 18.9-acre Euclid Beach is part of the Cleveland Metroparks’ Euclid Creek Reservation. The park’s access road is north off State Route 283 (Lake Shore Boulevard) one-third mile east of the East 156th Street intersection.

Euclid Beach’s recreational history dates back to 1895 when the very popular Euclid Beach Amusement Park opened on site. The amusement park closed in 1969 and its roller coasters and rides were either relocated or razed. In 1982 Euclid Beach was added to the Cleveland Lakefront Park system. On June 6, 2013, Cleveland Metroparks assumed management of Euclid Beach and the five other Cleveland Lakefront State Parks, dividing them into the Lakeshore and Euclid Creek reservations.

Within Euclid Beach and the surrounding privately held land, vestiges of several attractions from the site’s amusement park-past are visible. These include the former shuffleboard area, remnants of the beachside fountain, and concrete footers from the Flying Turns roller coaster’s loading station and track. The only remaining fully intact structure is the former amusement park’s entrance arch, a Cleveland Historic Landmark, which spans East 159th Street north of Lake Shore Boulevard.

Euclid Beach features a foot-friendly sand swimming beach. Shore access connects directly to the swimming beach at the adjacent Villa Angela Area, creating nearly a half-mile of publicly accessible coast. Additional amenities at Euclid Beach include picnic shelters, a rentable pavilion, bathhouse, playground equipment, trails and a concession stand. Fishing is permitted. The 17-mile paved Cleveland Lakefront Bikeway is also routed through Euclid Beach Park.

UPDATE: On June 6, 2013, Cleveland Metroparks assumed management of certain lakefront state park properties including this site. While the city of Cleveland continues to own the property, Cleveland Metroparks holds a 99-year lease to manage and enhance the park. Publications and electronic materials from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and others may still reflect the state’s previous management of the property.
